01_Slip_Inside_This_House.mp3

Slip Inside This House

Written by Roky Erickson and Tommy Hall, played by the 13th Floor Elevators, the very first psychedelic band in the world. They came from Austin Texas USA and they had a colorful career. Lead singer/guitarist Roky Erickson is still performing; the late Stacy Sutherland, guitar, was a friend of Roy's.

03_Far_Above_the_Clouds.mp3

Far Above The Clouds

This is the last song on Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells III. Who is Mike Oldfield? A composer and guitarist who did the theme song for the movie THE EXORCIST (1973 version) and the soundtrack for THE KILLING FIELDS.

A Life Uncommon - Jewel

Member bolleannangel (Lea) sent us this song about three weeks ago, and with it she said how it seemed to define the Community. We couldn't agree more!

You have probably heard this song on the radio. This is written by composer Suzanne Ciani and this is one of her finest works.

Aww come ON! Everyone knows this most 80's of 80's songs by Roxy Music! It was written by Bryan Ferry.

06_Love_Song.mp3

Love Song

You're not going to believe it, but Elton John once did a very moving and beautful song during the 70's - this one, LOVE SONG from the CD version of his otherwise awful Tumbleweed Connection

11_Strawberry_Fields_Forever.mp3

Strawberry Fields Forever

Although Paul McCartney and producer George Martin helped in stitching together this John Lennon song, it is clearly his work from a 1968 Beatles album, MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR, which in turn was the soundtrack to a forgotten Beatles movie of the same name.

08_Crown_of_Creation.mp3

Crown Of Creation

From their 1968 album Crown Of Creation, this short epic by guitarist Paul Kantner is a foregotten gem and one of his finest works, both in lyric-content and guitar work

07_We_Love_You.mp3

We Love You

Of all bands, the Rolling Stones have a number of forgotten classics from their psychedelic phase during the late 1960's. This one, WE LOVE YOU is largely the work of the late Brian Jones - the samples of closing doors, heavy footsteps and the distorted cello are things he liked to play with and they work well in this tune.

09_At_Darwin_s_Motel.mp3

At Darwin's Motel

The quirky if talented trio TANGERINE DREAM composed and performed this fascinating work.

10_Alap_from_Raga_Gorakh_Kalyan.mp3

Alap From Raga Korakh Kalyan

A l'il taste of Indian music by someone other than Ravi Shankar, this is performed by Debendra Kanti Chakrabarty; it'ss from a world music sampler we have here somewhere.

12_Gregorian_Chant.mp3

Tui Sunt Caeli

The CD we got this from provided no details of the choir who sang it.

02_Forget_Time.mp3

This is a prog dance song by Jimmy Van M featuring Terra Deva. I think it came from a Mixmag cover disc.

14_Out_of_Control.mp3

Out Of Control

This Chemical Brothers classic is really one of our favories here.

15_Space_Hymn.mp3

Space Hymn

As the 13th Floor Elevators was the first psychedelic band, Lothar and the Hand People were the first ones to use a theremin and early Moog synthesizers in their work. This song, SPACE HYMN, is a forgotten masterpiece of that era. Roy saw them many times during the summer of 1967.
